St. John Ambulance - Emergency First Aid - Basic
This basic one-day course teaches first aid procedures and practical skills that can be applied at the scene of an accident without special equipment; and in the absence of professional medical help or supervision. This course is suggested for federal employees and the general public. Emergency Basic meets first aid requirements for Canada Labour Code Basic First Aid but is not recognized as equivalent to WorkSafe BC Occupational Level 1 First Aid.
Course content:
- Emergency Scene Management
- Adult CPR
- Rescue Carries
- Shock, Unconsciousness and Fainting
- Severe Bleeding
- Eye Injuries
- Choking
- Medical Conditions
- Burns
Certification: valid for 3 years upon successful completion of course.
Prerequisites: 14 yrs or reading comprehension to Grade 6-7. Children under 14 yrs must be accompanied by an adult, participants must be physically able to perform the required first aid skills.

Time: 8 Hours - One day course (8:30am - 4:00pm)
